A one man/woman show.
Our astronaut, isolated in space, conducts experiments on food DNA manipulation and other projects from the Hadron Collider, including research on the God Particle. Their mission is to find solutions to end world famine and uncover the origins of the universe.
Being alone in space provides the perfect backdrop for the astronaut to ponder life, religion, racism, politics, relationships, and other topics that frustrate them, without the constraints of political correctness. They freely shares their thoughts, questioning their own mortality, the existence of God, UFOs, and alien intervention.
Through incoming video transmissions and pre-recorded messages, we learn about the astronaut’s life and the people close to them.
As experiments fail, they begins to experience bizarre dreams. Are these visions real, or is someone trying to communicate with them? Amidst the chaos, they make a breakthrough: plant life starts growing at an exponential rate, offering data that could revolutionise global food production. Simultaneously, the God Particle begins to glow, emitting immense power, which jeopardises the life support systems on the space station.
Back on Earth, control is seized by terrorists, rioters, and religious fanatics, culminating in a bomb explosion.
With top-secret information critical to the President of the United States, a rescue mission is launched. However, the shuttle explodes before reaching them, and the shock wave propels the space station into deep space, making rescue impossible.
Astronaut had its first public showing as a workshop/staged reading at the Other Palace Theatre in London, following interest from their New Musicals in Development programme. This performance featured a cast of West End professionals and was presented to an invited audience of producers, agents, directors, and choreographers. Stage design companies interested in using their skills and promoting the use of 5D graphics in theatre used the performance to see how this technology could be implemented to further the story and create all the revolutionary visuals that would be integral to the storytelling and the visuals.
